She started at the piano before she could read. Classical training gave her structure. Jazz gave her freedom. Electronic music gave her a universe to build in. For years, she tried to choose between them — and the breakthrough was realizing she never had to.
New York-based artist Livia Drew builds in the spaces between genres — cinematic textures over piano chords, a voice trained in jazz standards singing through walls of dark synth. Compositions that feel like film scores for movies that don't exist yet. Every part of her background is in the music: the discipline, the spontaneity, the darkness, the beauty.
Her remix EP for Bullet in My Heart dropped May 15. Her debut LP follows late summer.
